Gael Palen becomes Housing Case Manager —

Having been a friendly and welcoming face serving residents at the front desk of Clare Apartments NE for a few years, Gael Palen (they/them) has taken on new duties as a Housing Case Manager for the Scattered Site program. Their experience as a Resident Assistant, along with their desire to help others will make them an amazing addition to the program.

Can you tell us what initially attracted you to working with Clare Housing?

I have always been the kind of person who is ready to do what I can to help others, so when I learned that I could be a part of Clare Housing, I jumped at the opportunity. The fact that I get the privilege to be a part of a program like this, one that is actively out there and making a difference for a lot of people, is such a blessing.

Tell us a bit about your work history and how you expect this experience to inform your NEW role.

After leaving work as a cashier, I started as a Resident Assistant at Clare a little over two years ago. It’s been wonderful! So, when I learned that the Scattered Sight Housing Case Manager position was open, I wanted to apply. I was nervous because it’s a very different job than what I did as an RA. That being said, the good thing about that is I know the company and the people, as well as the type of work done here which will help me with transitioning into this new position.

What personal values are you looking forward to bringing to this new role?

I’m excited to share my empathy and passion for helping those in need.

Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you, or about what you like to do in your free time!

I am a local film actor.

Congratulations on the new position, Gael – and congratulations on your latest film project, which will be premiering in the local Z-Fest Film Festival in April of 2023!
